My interest in running is slowly growing and I took the plunge and signed up for the big 26.2 which will take place on the 22nd December 2019! - the Portsmouth Coastal Marathon! I didn't want this to be for nothing so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to raise money for a charity that has meant a lot to me and my family. My amazing sister Liberty developed erbs palsy due to birth trauma, where the primary nerves that supply the movement and feeling in her right arm were torn. This will be a life-long disability which will affect the mobility and function of her arm. However, despite this condition impacting parts of Libby's daily life, she has never let it get in the way of many physical challenges and has accomplished so many amazing things such as passing her driving test; Duke of Edinburgh Award; Fine art degree and sporting events while at cadets. The erbs palsy group have offered support and advice to my family and others affected by erbs palsy and they look closely into treatments available case by case. They provide awareness to what is a condition that is classed as uncommon, even though it affects at least 1 in a 1000 births!
